What if we enrol and then my child decides they don't like it?
If your child has a change of mind about a dance or acrobatics class please let us know and we can help them find a more suitable class that they enjoy. With so much to choose from they are sure to find a class they really enjoy and thrive in. We are all about supporting kids to have fun in whatever class they choose.
Why do students need to wear a uniform?
We have set uniforms for certain classes, especially ballet and jazz, which includes appropriate footwear of ballet and jazz shoes. Uniforms are important for many reasons; it helps children feel apart of the group and class environment, wearing the same or similar clothing without having to feel unsure. Leotards, tights, skirts and bike pants are all chosen for the way they fit to the body, causing less distractions and helping teachers see correct posture and alignment. It helps a child feel ready for class and get the most out of it.
Shoes protect the feet and help with movement across the floor and support for turns, leaps and jumps. Shoes also help students work through their feet and develop their point and articulation.
Hair is to be worn up (bun for ballet), for the same reasons – less distractions, keep it off the face and helps the child get the most out of class.
Are Ballet and Jazz exams compulsory?
No, Ballet and Jazz exams are not compulsory, but are offered to students who take part in these classes and show that they are ready. Exams are a great way to fully complete a grade and move up with a sense of achievement and satisfaction. If your child decides not to participate in exams that is totally fine, they still complete the level and move up with their class.
What performances or events do you do?
All our Acrobatics and Dance students are invited to participate in performances throughout the year. In Term 4, we hold our end of year concert which all the students are involved in from Baby Boppers to seniors. Other events include the Beerwah Street Party for selected classes and the whole school is invited to participate in the Community Christmas Carols in December.
